Just a friendly warning post for anyone who wants to print their photos with foto. I’ve used their service a few times in the past and found them to be very fast, efficient and most importantly good quality photos. However, after using their serve today, I feel extremely disappointed on two fronts:

Free Prints Promotion

Almost all pages on their site boast:

10 free 6×4″ prints on every order, no conditions and NO limits.

This looked tempting, so I decided to add some extra holiday snaps to my order - 14 in total. However, to my disappointment, it is not possible to add 6×4 photos to an order containing 12×8 photos. This is ridiculous. They clearly state 10 free photos with no conditions and NO limits. In the end, I ended up placing two orders, one with 12×8 and 8×6 photos and another with lots of 7×5. I’d given in, fallen for their trap and paid extra for 14 photos in 7×5 format that I didn’t really need in the first place.

Delivery

The second disappointment was with the delivery charges. I can’t believe that what they’re doing is legal. They clearly state in large text the cost for a certain range of photos but then in the small print they effectively change this to be the cost per unit, where only the smallest photos count as 1 unit, with the photos I ordered taking 5 units and so being off the scale for postage costs. By off the scale, I mean not shown on the main list but shown with a click on more than 100 Photos (but I’ve not ordered more than 100…). This is extremely deceptive and very disappointing.
